Immigration Laws

Immigration laws govern the needs and procedures to qualify an alien entrant to permanently reside in the United States. Illegal residence in the United States is subject to conviction under these laws.

If a nonimmigrant resident does not renew his visa for a period of 6 months and continues to live in the United States for a period of more than 6 months then he is subject to be barred for a period of 3 years to re-enter the United States. If a nonimmigrant resident does not renew his visa for a period of 1 year and continues to live in the United States for a period of more than 1 year then he is subject to be barred for a period of 10 years to re-enter the United States.

Immigration laws makes it convenient for people with a college degree or more to be easily offered a job with labor certification. High skilled researchers and investors are most welcome contributing to the economic and scientific growth of the country. Most H1-B visa holders need to apply for a new visa under a new sponsor employer if they switch between jobs. They are not entertained to continue working with a different employer with a visa sponsored by another employer. It is an illegal act.

Immigration laws govern the nonimmigrant visa holders and immigrant visa holders. Nonimmigrant visas are temporary visas which are of many types ranging from tourist visas, business visas, extraordinary entrant visa, religious worker visa, investor visa and many more. All nonimmigrant visas are issued for short periods of time ranging from 6 months to 3 years requiring periodic renewal as called for by immigration laws.

Immigrant visas are permanent residence visa that is granted to immediate relatives of U.S. citizens, family members, green card by employment, green card by marriage, green card by employment and such. All the application procedures, fees, qualification norms are ruled by immigration laws.

Every aspect of Immigration ranging from labor certification, naturalization process, green card application, qualification, processing and renewal is governed by these set of laws. Any citizen who employs an alien against immigration laws is rudely penalized.

Visa Waiver Programs and norms that govern it and subsequent amendments are also governed by these laws. This law determines the total number of immigrant visa numbers to be issued per year and exceptions for nationalities and special personalities from getting their visas against this quota!
