C1 Transit Visa

C1 transit visa is different from tourist and business visas. C1 transit visa facilitates enroute stay in the United States when a nonimmigrant is on the way of his travel to another destination.

The Immigration Nationality Act has laid down certain rules that decide if one qualifies for the C1 Transit Visa. The law considers every applicant for any king of visa as a prospective immigrant. The applicant for C1 Transit Visa should prove to the consulate that they do not intend to immigrate to the United States and that should be stated with valid proofs.

The C1 Transit Visa Applicant should express the motive of the trip as that which is a continuous transit via the United States and that the stay is not a motive to find routes to settle down in the United States.
The applicant should prove that he is not a refugee and is a citizen with a residence in the Country of citizenship or outside the United States with a strong proof of a valid business or a binding family which is dependent on the applicant availing the citizen to return to this home country and not reside in the United States.
The funds required to cover this transit should be showed in the form of valid bank statements as the consulate advises.
Proof of entry permit to the destination country following the transit through the United States. If they do not have any entry permit for the destination country the applicant should provide valid proof to support the fact that they do not require any proof to enter that particular destination.
Some citizens would require payment of a reciprocity fee if a C1 Transit Visa is to be given. However, some nationalities do not require a reciprocity fee.

Requirement to process a C1 Transit Visa are as follows:
Machine readable visa application should be submitted along with the receipt of the fee paid.
DS-156 and DS-157 (if required) should be submitted after correct filling in of information.
A valid passport to travel to the United States should be submitted.
Photographs that are taken according to the photographic rule proposed by the embassy. The photograph should be produced even for infants if any.
Proof of travel tickets that are booked for the travel that requires transit through the United States.
Sufficient liquid funds should be shown via bank proofs or traveler’s check or whichever is applicable.
