Free Green Card Lottery

Free green card lottery is the program through which the US government makes available 55,000 green cards to the nationals of the low admission countries. Low admission countries mean those nations that have sent less than 50,000 people to the US over the past 5 years. This forms the basis of the eligibility criteria. Since this number is bound to change every year, the USCIS excludes the non qualifying countries and add in new countries that has gained independence recently. The application form and processing is absolutely free of cost.

The list of non qualifying countries includes Mexico, Jamaica, chins, India, Haiti, Colombia, brazil, Canada, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, etc. in case you hail from a non qualifying country, still you can be eligible for green card lottery if your spouse or parents hail form an eligible country.

Apart from being a native of eligible country, you must have a high school diploma certificate or an equivalent OR must have at least 2 years of experience in the past 5 years in a field that requires at least 2 years of training or experience to perform.

The application forms for the free green card lottery must be filed ONLY electronically with the official web site of the US department of State and each applicant must apply only once for a fiscal year. The form must be completely furnished, failure of which would lead to the rejection of the application.

The free green card lottery form requires your full name, age, gender, date of birth, place of birth, country of chargeability, your recent photograph taken according to the prescribed guidelines, complete mailing address, country of residence, contact information, highest level of education, marital status, information of dependents along with their recent photographs (family group photos are not accepted).

The free green card lottery application form is completely free of cost but you may have to pay few dollars if you apply it through an agent or attorney. The green card lottery for the fiscal year closes once the limit of 50,000 is reached. There are also regional diversity limits which are determined by the USCIS according to the specifications made in section 203 (c) of the INA.

The eligible candidates are chosen by a computer generated random drawing at the Kentucky consular center. You would be informed via post by the Kentucky consular center only if you are selected. You must be aware of the online scams related to green card lottery to avoid hassle.
