Nurse Work Visa

Nurse work visa is issued to qualifying nurses willing to work in the U.S. and are registered nurse practitioners from a foreign country satisfying USCIS norms.

The HIC Nurse Work Visa process:-
No individual foreign nurse can initiate the Nurse Work Visa process.
The hospital from the U.S. should initiate the H1C call petition.
The hospital sponsoring the nurse will file a Form ETA 9081. This form is meant to get attestation for the qualifications of nonimmigrant nurses with the Department of labor to issue labor certification for the qualifying nurse.
After the form ETA 9081 is passed, the employer should file form I-129 the call petition for the qualifying nurse to proceed with nurse work visa forms.
Once I-129 and I-129 H is accepted, the nurse can submit DS-156 along with required certificates.
The form I-797 A or B should be submitted as a proof of a call petition having been accepted by the USCIS.
DS-157 is meant for male candidates between age 16 and 45.
The application form should be supported by a passport that will be valid beyond 6 months of the visa validity along with photographs and nurse license proofs.


The main qualifications to apply for H1C Nurse Work Visa are:

H1C is issued to RN of foreign nationalities.
Foreign nationals who have received education to qualify as a nurse from the U.S. are also eligible to apply for HIC Nurse Work Visa.
USCIS requires the RN to clear the suitable examination to practice nursing in a particular state or County in the U.S. territory.
The Health Center in the U.S. where the RN wishes to register for employment is governed by the respective state laws that dictate the qualifications for the RN. The foreign RN should be eligible to satisfy the laws and rules of the state authority to continue service as an RN in the US with Nurse Work Visa status.
The RN applying for Nurse Work Visa is required to obtain a certification from CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools).
As an alternative to CGFNS certification, an RN can also get approval to qualify for RN practice in the U.S. from the Attorney General of DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services).
All foreign RNs are required to pass the NCLX-RN National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.
