B1 Business Visa is used by business travelers to enter the United States. B1 visa is a visitor’s visa meant for business travelers.
In most cases the B1 visa is issued for business purposes:
For face-to-face negotiations to finalize a business
Seeking investment from the US or to sell products to the US commercial sector
Attend conferences to discuss investment from the US or to sell products to the US commercial sector
To conduct an interview and hire staff
To conduct a market research.
What cannot be done with a B1 Business Visa? Proceedings to organize or run a business, working under a gainful job with a good salary or receiving payment from a U.S. commercial or noncommercial body, or contribution as an expert in an entertaining or sporting event and stuff cannot be done with B1 Business visa.
The business activities are governed and permitted by the investor visa and the entertaining activities are governed and permitted by the extraordinary visa.
B1 Business Visa is meant only for non-payment marketing activities. Very clearly there is an invisible veil between what is exactly allowed and not exactly allowed with the B1 business visa permit. There are many areas where many tempt to misuse B1 Business Visa for earning. To avoid such temptation an additional HIB visa is issued under proper genuine grounds.
B1 Business Visa entrants can stay in the US for a period of 6 months; a maximum extension to a total of one year stay is entertained per visit. The reason behind such restrictions is to prevent unlawful permanent stay of the visitor and also to facilitate to switch over to another long-term visa in the future, which may be needed in most cases.
Sometimes the B1 Business Visa applicant ends up in successful negotiations that may require investment in a business in the US or a successful commercial business conference that may warrant a change to long-term visa. Such visas are also issued to people who have entered with a B1 Business Visa; the immigrant should have advised the consulate of possibilities of such before hand or at least the intent of extension; Long-term stay should not be preplanned. The reason for extension in such cases should be genuine!
B1 Business Visa should be applied from the respective countries with which the applicant holds a citizenship. If the business applicant applies from a branch consulate of another country where one is residing in a nonimmigrant visa, then there is a danger of the application being simply turned down.
